My Studio
I believe that a better instrument will help you become a better musician, and being fortunate enough to own two very special grand pianos - a 1920 Steinway and a 1912 Blüthner - I use both of them for teaching. You will learn that each one of these wonderful instruments has its unique character and voice, not to mention their fascinating histories. The German-made Blüthner has a typical “European” sound - refined and elegant, perfect for the music of the Baroque and early Classical periods, and its action is light, requiring a precise and delicate touch. The Steinway, which has recently been painstakingly restored by a wonderful local piano technician, Don Kulak, from Soundcraft Piano of Tarpon Springs, has a greater richness and depth of sound, complemented by a “meatier” feel of its action, which makes it best suited for Romantic and contemporary piano repertoire.
